SKIN CARE ON A BUDGET???

Building a skin care routine suitable for your skin can still be achieved by using cheap, yet effective skin care products. If a skin care routine of 10 steps is too much to your liking, (or if you simply wish to reduce the cost of your routine) you can keep it simple by only following three out of ten steps: cleansing, moisturising and protecting (spf).

CLEANSER

Before applying skin care products, you should always cleanse the skin. It is recommended to do this twice a day, once in the morning (use a gentle cleanser) and once in the evening (double cleanse if you wear makeup) Cleansing the skin will remove dirt, oil and debris (left on the skin from makeup, sweat, or any other type of pollution) to prevent clogged pores which can lead to breakouts.

The way you wash your face can make a difference in how it appears. Make sure to use a cleanser that is gentle enough for your skin and doesn’t contain harmful ingredients. First wet the face with lukewarm water. Take about a dime-sized amount of cleanser and massage it into the skin with your fingertips (something other than the fingers may irritate the skin). Next up you could let the mask sit for a minute, or wash it off right away with lukewarm water. Pat the skin dry with a soft and clean towel (paper towels are recommended to prevent bacteria).

MOISTURIZER

Moisturiser is used to (obviously) moisturise the skin. If applied on damp skin, it will trap the water in your skin, which will result in the skin looking bright and plump. Moisturising should always be part of the skin care routine, even if the skin is oily. Look for a suitable moisturiser for your skin type, (for people with combination skin it might be useful to use two different moisturisers, one for each skin type)

SPF

Sun protection should always be part of the skin care routine. It helps prevent wrinkles, age spots and skin cancer. Even when there appears to be no sun (even in winter!), you’re hiding in the shade or whatever else, an SPF of at least 30 should always be a part of the routine and preferably reapplied every two hours and after swimming or sweating.
